Cusco's Big Scare
I've done the drive from Arlington to Austin and back so many times, I can do it with my eyes closed. 98% of the ride is on one road and since it's Texas, the road is flat and straight. So flat and straight that people who do it enough times do try it with their eyes closed. (This is the only reason I can come up with for all of the cars in ditches on the side of the road.)
Yesterday I was one of those idiots.. though my incident was just before getting on the highway. It had rained just enough to coat the roadway with a thin slick layer or water. As I turned left onto the road leading to the highway, the car didn't turn with me. Sliding, turning slowly. Not Cusco.. Right into a pole.
This is Cusco:

He's probably still mad at me for almost killing him. Luckily my car turned just enough to miss him and my bumpers must be made of steel (um) since only the front left hubcap was damaged.
Feeling like an idiot, I pretended like nothing happened and continued driving, turning into the first driveway. Car is fine. nice. Turn it back on and go.. um.. why is my steering wheel sideways and I'm going straight? Great. Back to Austin for one more night to get it checked out in the morning.
21 hours and $200 later I made it back to Arlington. Cusco's still mad, but hopefully he'll forgive me when I give him a jungle to play in next week..
