la Theatre

Totally cultured weekend. Gnome and I put on our top hats, grabbed our canes, and headed not once but twice to the Austin theatre.

Friday we saw part deux of Intergalactic Nemesis at the Salvage Vanguard Theatre. Can someone please bring back 1930s radio shows? Even a live radio show leaves more to the imagination than TV where your mind has no room to wander. Complete with sound effects and audience participation, five radioteurs (um made this word up) played multiple parts each in this goofy sci-fi battle between robots, man, and Timmy Mendez, boy with telekenetic powers. (One more weekend left.. )

Yesterday, we joined the old peeps for Sunday matinee at the Austin Playhouse, where we (along with several transplpeeps) have season tickets. As always, they put on quite a show, this time with Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The older crowd was LOVING the pelvic thrusts and sex jokes. As a closeted (or not so closeted) musical geek, I loved it too. I haven't seen the Dolly Parton movie, but several said the play was superior.. (last show was yesterday).
